Acton: 25 November 2016

Group Name & Location: Acton Pass on a Poem at the home of Cathy Johns

Event Date:  Friday 25th November 2016

Summary:

Acton Pass on a Poem on an evening in late November was a mixture of old and new, and in many cases reflected readers’ deep preoccupation with the state of the world at the end of an extraordinary year.  There was homage to Leonard Cohen (a lyric as pertinent now as when it was written), and to Bob Dylan.  Several other items had a deeper political resonance.  At the same time, we were transported into other worlds, or this world perceived from unaccustomed angles, considering curious transformations through aspects of nature (other creatures, the weather and geology).  There was also mysterious, magical or mystical agency; so that we were kept alert to possibilities beyond our more common experience.
